Soldier on, Partin

I was looking through some photos by LA Times photographer Luis Sinco, who was imbedded with the 8th Marine Regiment in Fallouja. As I looked through the photos, I saw my childhood friend, Elliot Partin.

He’s the white guy with glasses in the second photo in the display.

You get used to seeing anonymous faces, and then boom there’s someone you know, wearing the USMC uniform and carrying an M-16. It’s good to see him, even if he is in the line of fire.

Happy he’s ok so far, worried about the fighting there. Praying…lots of praying.

Going home tonight to the family.
