Flash could be searchable if you put the information in the html. I’ve always wondered if you could combine Flash and CGI to make Flash-powered wiki/blog sites. Put the search information in meta tags or hidden body text.
What if in your server files you configured anybody accessing http://www.website.com to be automatically directed to index.swf?
I’m not a flash guru, but I’m pretty sure that you could make flash take up the whole screen, therefore making it into a psuedo-webpage. Sure, it would have many problems, but it is possible.
Quick updates for 2008:
Teresa and Ezekiel: Flash is now searchable.
Rich and byndyxc - I am a flash guru, and you do not need html, bundyxc’s solution would work. Rich, YOU JUST GOT (NERD) SERVED!
Also, you can do an index.php site for a CMS that doesn’t use html tags. DOUBLE (NERD) SERVED!

oh hey, thanks for botching my name.
and yes, you COULD do a lot of stuff, but how does making a PHP page without HTML tags have anything to do with the conversation at hand?
Although your first post was quite valuable, I’m not sure of the important of your second note. Last I checked, we were talking about flash websites…
Oh my!!! Yes, ultra geek, heh. If we move to all flash driven sites and HTML goes out of fashion the novelty of this tattoo may wear.
Jeremiah: Flash-driven???? Are you a web prophet, or aren’t you? Cuz last time I checked, Flash wasn’t searchable and search was the new pink.
maybe “open here” would be better …. also think about “please cut here”
haha i found it funny. but i am an html geek
very cool

Anyway swf is inserted into HTML, so this conversation is meaningless. Jeje

Your an idiot, you will always need HTML to embed flash into a web page……………
What about pure SWF files?
