   I wonder, when was the last time you really listened to a girl?

   Sometimes I wonder about the motivation of questions like this. I’m not sure if that’s because I’m suspicious of the intention, or because there’s actually an intention to be suspicious of.

   To answer the question: There is no woman I respect more than my mother. She’s been to hell and back at least 3 times and come out stronger each time for the effort; what she knows, and who she is, is a glorious reflection of women’s capacity to stand up to the world and refuse to be beaten.

   I often turn to her for advice and, while it may sometimes take me awhile to actually follow it, I rarely regret doing so.

   I spend a great deal of time trying to hear what my girlfriend is really trying to tell me when we talk (or argue). So, when was the last time I really listened? I listen every day, Teresa; or at least, I suppose, I try.

   By the way, Post Secret is awesome. Did you see their promo video with the song by Sia? Haunted me for days. We bought one of their books.
