“Change You Can Xerox”
February 23, 2008
After being loudly booed for calling Barack Obama’s message, “change you can xerox”, Hillary Clinton took her attacks on Obama up yet another step, calling his campaign literature outright lies and comparing him to George W. Bush.
“Shame on you, Barack Obama,” she said.
Speaking of plagarism, the “Shame On You” line sounds familiar.
It would be nice if Hillary Clinton left attacking Barack Obama to John McCain.
Also, both McCain and Clinton’s campaigns are not just broke, but deeply in debt. Obama on the other hand is flush in cash as he approaches 1,000,000 individual donors. Maybe that’s why many Clinton staffers have started hitting the bottle.

By the way, I read this comment on the Bill Clinton YouTube vid and it cracked me up:
1988: Pres. G. H. Bush
1992: Pres. B. J. Clinton
1996: Pres. B. J. Clinton
2000: Pres. G. W. Bush
2004: Pres. G. W. Bush
2008: Pres. H. R. Clinton
2012: Pres. Jeb Bush
2016: Pres. Chelsea Clinton
2020: Zombie Ronald Reagan
I saw the Clinton attack interview.. my comment:
Hillary: “Since when do Democrats attack each other on universal health care?”
Umm… did you WATCH what you said to Obama in the February 19th debate in Austin? Democrats don’t attack each other over health care.. oh really? So sitting 6 inches from someone and accusing them of not caring about insuring Americans isn’t attacking them on universal health care. Got it.
Nobody’s buying it. Her interview seems to be almost universally slammed as hypocritical. You see, this is why she does so terribly when she attacks Obama, because she can’t attack Obama without validating everything he says.
While we’re posting Bill Clinton videos, this one, while I don’t care about its implications in the political race, is somewhat amusing…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbRWaaHB-GU
Bill Clinton nodding off while MJK Jr’s son speaks.
That would be MLK Jr’s son.
I’m so tired of Hillary’s freakouts. The fact of the matter is that in Massachusetts we are REQUIRED to have health insurance or we pay a fine. I can barely afford the one I’m on. I know that Barack Obama is right on this - it would be great if everyone had it …. but some people will choose not to for whatever reason. Clinton cannot possibly know the personal lives and financial situations of every family in America. Clinton’s plan which says we must purchase health insurance or be penalized smacks of Romney’s plan in Massachusetts. Obama gives Americans a choice. I know my son, who is a musician, and starting out would NOT be able to afford health care in any way, shape or form right now. Would he be penalized on top of it? What wages would Clinton garnish? His part time minimum wage salary? Clinton needs to stop attacking Obama and do what she said about making sure the democratic party is unified so it can win against Mr. 100 more years of war McCain? If that means she needs to read the tea leaves and get out for the sake of the party then please do so. But first Sen. Clinton - PLEASE stop screeching.
If what Hillary said is true about Obama.
That even in the candidate election time Obama DARE to hide and twist the fact,
I can not imagine what Obama can do to cheat the american when he sat on the
presidential chair.
I agree - Shame on you Hillary! point that boney finger at yourself. I’ve never seen such a spoiled, sore looser as she has been. She’s coming across as some hormonal psychotic mother who just caught Chelsea smoking or something. Does she realize that acting out - whether it be crying or in anger - is playing right into the hand of those who say a woman is too emotional to be president? And to think that the American people are too stupid to look into what’s true and what’s hype? This kind of hypocracy is the reason so many Americans are sick of the typical Washington political game - and precisely why so many of us are supporting Barack.
Hang it up old hag - this is the beginning of the end of the dynasties.
wake up I am so worried about obama what has he done that make people think he is ready to step up and run our country. Please stop and think Hillary has years of working beside her husband and on her own to help this country.
Heaven help us if he wins bring us together nice words but he is not ready.
NOOOOO BAMA
Obama= empty promises
Obama= no solutions
Obama= crooked politics
Obama=same of tired politics masked
Obama=deception & lies
Obama= danger to America
Obama=snake oil salesman
Go Hillary and Save us from this monster.
No Bama, No Bama
Obama= empty promises
Obama= no solutions
Obama= crooked politics
Obama=same of tired politics masked
Obama=deception & lies
Obama= danger to America
Obama=snake oil salesman
Go Hillary and Save us from this fraud
If Obama misquoted Hillary, and we all know that he did not, she can only blame herself for her own failed attempt to clearly explain her issues. We in America all heard Hillary say that she would “MANDATE HEALTH CARE PLANS.” What else would that mean and what other conclusions could she possibly expect the American people to draw from such a statement. MANDATE is the verb she’s used now since this campaign began. There were no if, ands, or buts in her comments. Even during the last debate on Thursday, she offered no clarification on that issue. You see, she’s tried every tactic thus far and none of them have worked. Now she’s more desperate than ever. Listening to the media pushing her up to attack Obama has forced her to attempt a magic trick. She’s trying to pull a rabbit right out of her hat. Sorry Hillary; you are not in a circus act. There’s no magic here. The American people aren’t stupid. You’re as transparent as glass. Twisting the truth is only revealing just how low you will go; just how desperate you are. SHAME. SHAME, SHAME ON YOU HILLARY. You’re twisting the truth and “YOU KNOW IT.
More on my thoughts
It’s ok for you to play the female card but you knock Obama because he supposedly played the race card. You accused him of plagarism, but you plagarized in front of the entire nation with John Edwards remarks. It’s ok if you do these things, but when anyone else does them, you attack them. And now, this. Come on Hillary! What are you doing, here. You’re just really terrible at losing, aren’t you. Well a good leader is one who also knows how to discipline themselves. You can also know this; You won’t win this election. Maybe in the future, but it’s not in God’s plans just yet. Stop the attacks. I liked you Hillary, but, now you’re embarassing the Democratic Party. What are you doing????!!!! You look more like a republican here.
If Hillary herself can’t get into the heads of voters and figure out what is making this country tick, then she should at least hire some staffers who have a clue. Whoever is advising her seems to think most of us live on the dark side of the moon! Barack told her to her face in the debates that his health care plan differed from hers in that he didn’t make the purchase of health care a mandate! He’s been saying that for some time! Did she JUST NOW wake up to that???? Her advisors really make her look like a clueless dope!
The one thing Hillary has been very consistent at is making bad choices: In 1993 she was overly agressive in her attempts to force her brand of health care down everyone’s throat.
Then she supported NAFTA
Then she supported the Iraq war
Today she’s trying a new version of health care, she’s trying to change NAFTA and she no longer supports the war. It looks like her modus operandi is make mistakes first and try to fix them later. This is experience? I’d say it is a pattern of misjudging situations!
It also appears her campaign is out to lunch - they’ve failed to raise money, they’ve failed to capture the desires of the people and they seem to be ill prepared in dealing with backlashes from the public.
So, she makes bad decisions, selects staffers that don’t get her from point A to Z and then she tries to reinvent herself every day.
If this is “experience” I’d say we’re better with none!
She is driving me insane. Recently her campaign sent out fliers that said Obama “which of these people doesn’t deserve healthcare?” And saying that his plan would leave 15 million uninsured. Does she think we are not paying attention? That when she accuses him of something that she has done the exact same thing. Also she has repeatedly voted for NAFTA! This whole thing is just one big performance to get votes.
Hillary Clinton appeared like a scorned woman out for revenge. America has rebelled against her in their votes for a fresh new face Barack Obama. Do we really want someone like Hillary in the office of Commander in Chief with Americas lives in her hands?…If she feels defeated by another country there is no limits to what she’d do to win…Scary thought!
You looked like an out of control eratic woman Hillary (Shame on You)…..Take a chill pill. You’re only turning what few supporters you had, against you!
Barack Hussein Obama is conning people through techniques of hypnosis, and for that, shame on you, Barack Obama!:
“The hypnotist takes into confidence his subject through his confident posture, compassionate behavior and positive dialogue. The psychological supremacy over the subject is achieved by the hypnotist indirectly through his conscious speech and gestures. This communication will help the hypnotist to gain the confidence of the listener that will ultimately develop an unconscious neurological coordination between the hypnotist and the subject known as covert conditioning or covert anchoring. This state of mind of the subject will help the hypnotist to dominate the thoughts and behaviors of the subject.
The person practicing these techniques will be able to influence the thoughts of other persons make them agree to his point of view. By using this method of hypnotism it is easy to make a person obey the commands of the person practicing this technique of hypnotism. Whether hypnotizing a person without his consent is ethical or not is a question that is yet to be answered. The preachers of covert hypnosis claim that learning these techniques will help a person to bring miraculous changes to the life of the person practicing it.” http://www.hypnotismsecrets.com/covert-hypnosis
Hillary is the stronger candidate. I agree with the cult of personality style of this OBAMANATION. He is not my choice for anything. At first I thought that it would be cool, but I respect the seriousness of Hillary Clinton. She is friends, GEUINE friends of the Mexican people and many other Latinos feel the same. Obama supporters are given to vitriol and arguing and downright silliness. IT IS EASY TO PULL THE WOOL OVER IGNORANT PEOPLE WHO, TRUTH BE TOLD, ARE ABOUT AS INTELLIGENT AS KELLIE PICKLER! Sorry, but I appreciate a woman who can stand up to any man with straight up facts. I don’t want passion and eloquence when what we need is STRENGTH and EXPERIENCE. I am 22 years old and not for Obama. Obama is just a straight perpretator, a fraud. Just because Oprah treated him like a Book of the Month club shows that she would choose RACE over REAL ISSUES. We are seeing that she likes to have white woman line her pockets since 1986, yet she jokes all over the place how white people are eating out of her hand. I am not into Oprah. Isn’t she one of those secret Scientologists?? Oprah’s trying to pull the wool over our eyes and lead us into a PUPPET PRESIDENCY, cause that is what is going to happen. They will ALL write his speeches. CHANGE CANNOT BE XEROXED!! lol That was the highlight of the night for me. Hillary has proven to be the one to knock down the Republicans. Obama is fluff. Latinos see through this. And, all the Black people who are jumping on Latino backs just so that we do like them is SELFISH. They portray the Latino youth as being for Obama overwhelmingly. FALSE. This is just more of their propaganda to hate on Hillary. We pick the best choice and we don’t hate on people just because they are Black or whatever. Obama is not a strong candidate. He just has the backing of Hollywood, a place FULL of cult members and nuts. This is WHY the media is biased the way it is. But, Latinos have seen FOR THEMSELVES that Hillary is for us. She has a solid background and hers IS the change we can believe in. Enough with Obama and his MIERDA TALK. Mexicans 4 Hillary.
I wasn’t aware that “Shame on You” could be considered plagiarism. I’m pretty sure most people say that at some point in there life. And the point of this was not even what Hilary said, it was the fact that Obama is taking her issues out of context. Obama’s playing dirty politics, obviously he’s not the only one, but so much for the “change” he’s trying to accomplish.
Hillary and Bill Clinton have done enough shame to the American people, and if the people of this nation elect those two again then we got same old same old of Bill Clinton affairs in the White House, thats alright if Hillary forgave him, when he said. I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN.. but is it alright when they decieve the people of this country, just to get back to our capital. people of this country had better listen to BARACK OBAMA.. and for all he stands for.. yes we need change from the BUSH’s and Clinton’s and so we need to elect BARACK OBAMA to be our next PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA… i do not want to turn on the tv and listen to another fling that Bill Clinton has had in our WHITE HOUSE..
To All New Commentors: Thank you so for much posting. I always appreciate hearing different points of view, as, at 25, my views are based on limited life experience.
Alfie - I’m sorry but I do not buy the argument that Hillary is better equipped to take on the Republicans, given the head-to-head polls against McCain and the fundraising issues.
Ashley - Shame on You in not plagarism. Neither having a campaign co-chair help you with a speech.
April - It seems unlikely that Barack Obama is hypnotozing people on this large of a scale.
Emma - If Bill has another fling when Hillary is in the White House she is tossing him out and divorcing him.
Maleel and Truye - I agree that Hillary needs to tone it down. Attacking Obama hurts both of them, and actually appear to hurt him more. I don’t understand why does it.
TM- What drives me craziest about Hillary’s press conference is that these mailings were sent out weeks ago and she is just now raising a fuss, AFTER the debate.
Mb - What is it about Barack that makes you so distrusting of him?
Deborah, Michael, Patrick, and BetGR- I agree that Hillary is not running a consistent, genuine campaign, which is why I went from supporting him as my top choice in September to looking at her and John McCain as a “close call”.
Kong - What Hillary said about Obama is not true.
K. Marr - I don’t know if he is ready. Some of our best (JFK, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt) and worst (George W. Bush, Hayes, John Quincy Adams) Presidents were low on experience. Some of our best (FDR, Jefferson) and worst (Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon) presidents were extremely experienced .
Who’s trying to sell you anything? That’s what Obama’s camp does.
Obama has been using fainting spells as a way to snag us. I am not emotional anyway. I like strength and admire such types of people. These are real leaders to me. I do not care what others believe. I have used my own mind to come to the conclusion and Hillary has proven that she is willing to do what it takes to take up the arms for us. I am from Florida. These stupid Republicans have messed up the electoral process. I WANT MY VOTE TO COUNT!
Hillary for President 2008
Obama needs some time to get adjusted IMO, maybe he should be Veep.
Did Hillary not say in an interview that she wouldn’t be opposed to garnishments for her healthcare plan. Does this mean that the premiums would be garnished from paychecks? If so, that’s not good. I don’t know of anyone that would want their paychecks garnished.
Alfie - Not accusing you of selling, just curious what it is that makes you confident Hillary will have a better chance against McCain despite head-to-head polls and fundraising differentials?
Applause for John Edwards on HIllary’s closing in the debate in Texas. She took most of the words right out of his mouth. So Senator Edwards, those applause were rightfully yours! Um, Um, Hillary, as you implied, the words should be your own. Uh, didn’t you borrow those last words from John Edwards?
If Hillary has changed her position on NAFTA, the Mexican border fence, the Iraq War, how to get meaningful health care passed, and her great warmth for Barack Obama is the a flip flopper. The Republicans had a field day accusing John Kerry of being a flip flopper. Hillary might be one of the big flips or flops of the last 50 years. Wouldn’t the Republicans have fun with her flips and flops. But Hillary is worse than a flip flopper, she borders on socio-pathetic manipulation of the truth re: accusing Obama of distorting her record in NAFTA and accusing him of plagiarism while lifting lines from Edwards. When I watch and listen to Hillary, I see and hear a more articulate version of George W. Bush - in a shirt - and not a little bit of Bill explaining away his not having had sex with “the woman.”
I’m not interested in debating with you. I have my opinion. I have my vote. Obama’s supporters seem to want so desperately to sway people’s opinions with rhetoric and lots of TALK. I have found her to be the strongest candidate. Since I do not care who YOU vote for, RESPECT my decision.
Hillary ‘08
Alfie - Just curious in hearing a differing opinion? A little surprised you are so hesistant to offer support for your candidate.
Dennis Ray - Hillary’s vote on the Iraq War, like John Kerry’s , I feel has doomed their opposition in a general election.
Linda - I have heard that Hillary borrowed words from John Edwards. We need “solutions you can believe in”, not “solution you can xerox.”
Lisy:
Then why do you support Hillary? She has had 2 immature outbursts in the last 3 days, and she has changed her campaign tone more often than Oscar presenters change their clothes. THIS is strength?
Alfie:
Oh. Then why are you posting here? If you’re not interested in debate, discussion, or being open to other ideas, what possible reason could you have for posting here, besides either
a) Obama bashing, or
b) Hillary evanglizing?
If it’s a), how are you any better than the people you ridicule, and if it’s b), why the hell should we listen to you when you openly declare you have no interest in listening to anyone else?
I’m on the verge of cursing at you, so I will stop here.
You can’t tell me that I cannot come in here and give my opinion. You have the right to spew whatever you like. It is quite apparent that you are desperate to make your downer points on Hillary. I have the right to say whatever I want, whereever I like. You don’t have to listen to anyone, but apparently you ARE. Hence the responses and the baiting. I have been open to ideas. This is what got me all into Obama. That is, until I heard him speak. I can google for myself whatever information is out there that is not based on pundit-trolls like you. For you to sit here and go toe to toe with everyone shows that you are in “bash” mode yourself. I speak to whom I feel like speaking. I have noticed your psychological ploys and am not taking the bait.
If you feel like cursing, that is ok. It is expected. That disclosure, in and of itself, shows a high level of insecurity within yourself. Go address it. I am voting for the person whom I believe will meet my particular needs.
I see you are just adamant in trying to sway people. Hopefully, you’ll realize that YOUR outbursts are not necessary when people are here presenting their views and feelings on the subject being posted. I haven’t written anything erroneous about YOU for you to be angry at me. I, like the rest of my Latino family, am backing Hill. So, deal with it.
Alfie:
Where did I do that?
Desperate. I had no intention of replying to any of this until you said you had no interest in debating. People who say that make me wonder why they’re sharing their opinion. I pretty much don’t care HOW you vote. That’s up to you.
You came here first and offered your opinion. You used words like “OBAMANATION” and “cult of personality” to describe Obama and his supporters. You are the one who invited my response (and Andy’s), and now you’re taking issue with me giving it, and went so far as to say you have no interest in debating.
So you really think you can come here, post things that are obviously inflammatory, and then play the victim when someone actually calls you on that behavior?
Responding to your post is “bash” mode?
I never tried, did I? I took issue with your tone and the way you replied to a person I consider a friend, thus why I had the impulse to curse. I never addressed your choice of candidate.
Which they’re more than welcome to do. But you can’t expect to post and have nobody reply, or respond with “I don’t want to debate with you” when they do. You can’t shoot at someone and then be surprised when they shoot back.
it seems to me that Hill’s much taunted “Ready From Day One” is just a campaign phrase designed to catch gullible voters. The way and manner she has runs her campaign shows that she is not just ready but lacks the requisite knowledge to rule a big Country like United States of America. Furthermore, the constancy with which she changes her camapign slogan says much the same. She should learn to say one thing and stand by it so that we can learn to trust her. Attacks on Obama cannot help her but will harm her the more.
IBEM - I have a serious problem with Hillary Clinton running on a “Ready On Day One” platform. That problem is John McCain. Running on experience might work against Barack Obama, but it shows a lack of foresight given the possibility of running against one of the most experienced men in the country in November. Is Hillary Clinton going to claim that John McCain is NOT “Ready To Lead On Day One?” She’d be laughed off the stage.
Alfie,
I’m with you on this one. I am well-educated with a West Indian background. I have traveled extensively therefore I have very open views. I just can’t see what people see in Obama! He is empty and arrogant. The more I listen to him the more I get turned off. He does nothing for me. Hillary is ready to roll up her sleeves and get to work because our country needs it badly. Enough of this talk about change when Obama is not equipped to effect the change he talks about. This is crazy and I believe if he wins we will all suffer for it!
Sharon - Do you believe we will suffer because you feel Obama will not work hard or because you feel he is not experienced enough? And how will we suffer?
Sharon:
See, I can respect that. Different candidates do something different for different people. Variety is the spice of life, and all that.
I may disagree, but I can respect where you’re coming from.
I think it’s hilarious that she’s even made this argument, really. They both use speech writers, so technically, many (most) of both their words aren’t “their own”.
Absolutely. You can also tell that the “Change You Can Xerox” line was thought up by her writers, and probably was inserted as a “zinger’ after some serious internal debates. My guess is that Mark Penn was probably the one who pushed for it. You could tell though, that when she delivered the line she thought she had a true “gotcha” moment, and was a little surprised by the response she got from the crowd.
[...] Hillary’s “Change You Can Xerox” zinger being booed, she seemed to think last night that throwing down another zinger might be well [...]
