TX and Ohio Move Into Statistical Ties
March 1, 2008
The latest polls in Texas and Ohio show Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama within the margin of error for each other.
Maybe that is why Senator Clinton is getting desperate, and launching ads that try to attack Barack Obama and scare up votes. As I mentioned in a recent post, as an ardent Obama supporter, I have no problem with Clinton continuing to run negatively or with these attack ads.
The attacks Clinton have launched on Obama, which are pretty much comprehensive at this point (Mrs. Clinton has taken a “kitchen sink” strategy), have not done anything so far to hurt Mr. Obama in the polls, hurt his vote totals, hurt his fundraising, hurt his favorability ratings, or hurt his head-to-head polling against John McCain.
In fact, some of Hillary’s most recent attack ads are so ridiculous that I think they are going to take some of the wind of out the attack ads McCain is going to use. Like the one below.
I guarantee McCain will try something similar. There are those who would argue that Hillary Clinton is in effect campaigning for John McCain right now, by trying to convince the American people that Barack Obama lacks the experience to be President as a one-term Senator, and that Hillary, as a two-term Senator has sufficient experience (McCain in his third-term). However, I would argue that Hillary Clinton is doing such a bad job in this, its effect is going to be negligible; if anything, it will make these attacks look even sillier this fall.
However, I’m sure there are many out there who disagree with me and believe that having the second place Democrat constantly attacking the leading Democrat with everything but the kitchen sink can’t possibly be good for the party. If Hillary (and by Hillary I mean Mark Penn)actually manages to launch a decent attack before dropping out, I will have to agree with you.

Andy,
I would agree with those who say that Hillary staying in and employing a ‘kitchen sink’ strategy is NOT good for the democratic party.
But I say, “So what?” I don’t give a shit about the democratic party, I want the best person to be president, regardless of their party. If Hillary destroys the old-guard-controlled democratic party then perhaps we can truly move forward and give leadership to those who care what’s best for the COUNTRY and not what’s best for the party.
