You had to pick one, didn’t you? The hearings I saw were real, respectful, sometimes passionate, and they passed a decent compromise. If you need to project this woman as the typical Hillary voter, you’re just denigrating enough. Your guy is pulling away. He’s won. Now’s the time to be generous.

If I look on the blogosphere, or in the comments on Huffington Post, it wouldn’t take long to find a name-calling Obama supporter, either.

Now, do you have some kind of need to single out the crazies? Why?

    Jim:

Your point about being generous is well taken. Thats why delegates from FL and MI are being seated. Whether any Hillary supporter cares to admit it or not - that act is a concession. The rules were crystal clear when the race started and deviation from them was an act of good will from Obama. By having FL and MI seated, he gave Hillary a net gain in delegates.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that all of Hillary’s supporters are unbalanced - I’m just worried that a disproportionate if minority of them are. Whenever a politician’s core base shows fundamentalist traits, I think we should be wary of them. The religious right destroyed conservative values as did neo-conservatism - just like the harm the labor movement is slowly doing to progressive values. If Clinton’s support is coming from “white middle class workers” which is rapidly becoming code for no college degree racist - then we can look forward to another abysmally out of touch, incompetent government. I am scare of such a future and you should be too!

    Jim,

I believe the title is “Psychotic Hillary Supporter,” not “Typical Hillary Supporter.” The phrase itself is a narrowing one designed to focus attention on something that is very unusual.

I was at the hearings. The only reason that woman was removed was because she was at the back and she was the loudest. Several who were nearly as loud and obnoxious were right next to me and were NOT removed despite security’s repeated warnings.

And for what it’s worth, the rabble you heard on C-span were only a tiny fraction of Hillary’s supporters who were in the room. By the end of the hearings, most of those supporters were as disgusted with that behavior as the rest of us were.

The most vocal now are NOT typical Hillary supporters - they’re what remains of the lunatic fringe. I suspect in an alternate universe, where Obama is the one who lost the primaries, he’d have his own lunatic fringe as well.

It’s worth noting though that his campaign successfully squashed multiple attempts to form a counter-protest at the RBC meeting - it’s an unusual leader, much less politician, who is able to control the emotions of their supporters so well.

Got something to say?
