Okay, I Forgive Her

The Clintons put on quite a unity show last night. I was impressed with both of them — especially Bill. But Senator Clinton’s call for a vote by acclimation — after state after state she won threw all their delegates to Obama — was very powerful.
I know the McCain campaign will continue to use her attacks on Obama against him, but my instinct tells me that last night took some of the sting out of those words.
I agree. When Clinton was giving her speech on Tuesday night, I was extremely impressed - I even turned to Rene’ and told her I thought that was the best speech Clinton had ever given.
What I think the Clintons have effectively done is proclaim their desire to continue to be part of Democratic party politics in the years to come, that they’re not so tied to their own legacy that they can’t grow along with our own politics. I think that’s a great thing.
